Dr. Robert Layman is a Toledo native who graduated from the University of Toledo and The Ohio State University College of Optometry. He is the recipient of the 2006 American Optometric Association “Optometrist of the Year Award.” The Ohio Optometric Association honored him with its Outstanding Senior Student Award in 1982, its Young Optometrist of the Year Award in 1987, and its Optometrist of the Year Award in 2005. He also received the TLC Dennis Kennedy, O.D. Excellence in Eye Care Award for 2005 and 2006. He is a past president of the Toledo Area Optometric Society, the Ohio Optometric Association, the Toledo Jaycees, and the Kiwanis Club of West Toledo. He is a vision consultant for the University of Toledo Athletic Department. His volunteer activities include: Boy Scout Troop 87 Assistant Scout Master, The Francis Family YMCA Board of Managers, and the American, Ohio, and Toledo Optometric Associations. Dr. Layman is married and has four children. He enjoys family travel, running, snow skiing, and motorsports.
