Dr. Ashley O'Dwyer, formerly Ashley Ryckman, received her Doctorate of Optometry from Indiana University College of Optometry in 2017. Her undergraduate studies were done at Lake Superior State University. She graduated with Honors receiving a Bachelors of Science degree in Biochemistry. Dr. O'Dwyer grew up in Houghton Lake Michigan, graduating from Houghton Lake High School where she participated in varsity basketball and track. While she worked on her doctorate at Indiana University, Dr. O'Dwyer also completed research on dry eye disease as well as scleral lenses. She presented online workshops for scleral lenses, and was the founding president of Indiana University's Contact Lens Club. She was also a student fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. In her free time, Dr. O'Dwyer spends time with her husband, Shawn, a firefighter for the City of Dearborn.They enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, and being on the water with their dog, Cola. Dr. O'Dwyer is a strong advocate for medical optometry, believes the patient always comes first, and is excited to serve the community.
